Led by champion old-time fiddler and alt-country songwriter John Showman, Toronto's New Country Rehab build their new video to a fever pitch. Recorded in Toronto by the folks at the video series Southern Souls (kind of like the Canadian Daytrotter), Showman moves through a house full of band members with the intensity of a prowling wolf. Back on their home turf, and with the addition of new band member Anthony da Costa, a well-known American singer-songwriter, New Country Rehab have nothing to prove, but still don't hesitate to tear down the walls in this new video for their song "Empty Room Blues," premiered here at BGS.

With their new album, Ghost of Your Charms, released in the US in Fall 2013, New Country Rehab’s dynamic sound and powerful songs throw light on the grittier side of Toronto, from the city’s working class history as Hogtown, an early 20th century center of meatpacking and industry. And just as Southern American folk traditions needed the urban landscapes of Chicago to become electric blues and R&B, Toronto turns simple country songs into the driving, electrifying Americana of New Country Rehab.
