In Their Words: “This is one of those songs that lends itself to a stripped back, more subdued performance. Even though the studio version has that big, electrified outro, the heart of the song really is still that acoustic guitar. A simpler approach is sometimes hard to pull off, but with this song, it works. I hope to always be able to write songs with that kind of adaptability. Good songs can be rearranged and experimented with instrumentally and still be good songs, and I think ‘Russell County Line’ is like that.
