BGS is proud to partner with Woollystar Music Festival for a series of new video sessions, including two very special performances from Margo Cilker. We premiered the first one, “Little White Cross,” in August, and now we’re delighted to share “Road to Las Cruces,” a highlight of Cilker’s brand new album on Fossil Records.

Festival curator Avery Hellman, who also makes music as ISMAY, continues, “If you ask the cowboys around the Eastern Sierra who their favorite musical artist is, they’ll probably tell you in a proud tone, ‘Why, Ian Tyson of course.’ These dusty trail riders may even tell you that Ian is the only artist they listen to. But, once they hear Margo Cilker singing his song ‘Road to Los Cruces’ I know they’ll add her to their short list.

Margo came into the Markleeville General Store and recorded this number on a roasty day in June, just a couple of hours before performing at the Woollystar Music Festival. I actually put in a special request for her to perform ‘Road to Los Cruces’ at the store amongst the paperback western novels and juniper liquor, because I knew the song would suit the setting, and the setting would suit the song.”
