The BGS and Good Country teams were honored to return once again to SXSW in March, this time partnering with our friends at Big Feat PR for A Night of Good Country at Sagebrush. The evening featured lively half-hour sets from artists on Big Feat’s stellar roster of clients – and quite a few Good Country favorites. Our pals at I Know We Should were on hand at Sagebrush to capture these Good Country performances, and over the recent weeks and months we’ve been posting clips from that day in Austin, Texas. You can watch our Shakey Graves, Tenille Townes, Ghost Hounds, Aubrie Sellers and Tyler Halverson performances right here on Good Country. Now, for our last installment in the series, we’re sharing exclusive performances by proud East Texas native Travis Bolt.

Though his new album Burning Bridges is blazing with full-band electricity, these performances strip things back enough for his songwriting to shine through. “Backroad Gospel” puts its country influence at the fore, even attracting some dancers to the Sagebrush dance floor. Another original, “Never Tried Cocaine,” offers a view from the bottom, where nothing seems to be working. Will a trip to New Orleans be the solution he’s looking for, or will the devil down on Bourbon Street have his way?

Meanwhile, there’s no better country song to bring a barroom to life than “You Never Even Called Me By My Name” and Travis Bolt’s irresistible rendition is no exception. Some would say it’s the perfect country song. (Feel free to shout along with the “Let me” part!) Indeed, this David Allan Coe classic is a fitting conclusion to a memorable Night of Good Country in Austin, Texas.
