WATCH: Bill Eberle, 'When You're Gone'

Artist: Bill Eberle
Hometown: Pittsburgh, PA
Song: "When You're Gone"
Album: Matter & Time
Release Date: Spring, 2016

In Their Words: "The experience of shooting this video encapsulated the collaborative spirit that permeated the making of the entire record. Jonathan Rattner, an amazing film artist in Nashville, agreed to shoot and direct the video. Bob Durham, a friend and an amazing artist himself, agreed to be the only actor. The poor guy doesn't even act, and we had him dancing in fields and talking to fish.

The song itself focuses on an aspect of my relationship with my wife: the tension between my desire to love and to be loved while knowing one day we both will die. It sounds dark, but I find so much comfort in the idea of our collective energy. I was thinking about what it means to exist in our current state of environmental instability, political unrest, and technological advance, and still commit to the practice of loving one another. Jonathan was able to tease at that tension with light and dark, solitude and joy. To me, it is a beautiful thing." — Bill Eberle
