“We’re members of an elite group because we’re still around, we’re still traveling,” Emmylou Harris jokes. To which Rodney Crowell adds with a laugh, “We traveled so far, it became a song.” The two then settle into a 1954 Silverstreak Trailer parked in East Nashville to perform the title track off their 2016 album of duets, The Traveling Kind. And life is just a little bit sweeter for all.
Carrie Crowell, of Crowell Floral, designed the set specifically for the pair. “We used blue and white delphinium, purple scabiosa, and white calcynia in this installation,” she says, “to represent a celestial great-beyond and provide a welcoming otherworldly quality … a resting place for the traveling kind.”
