Happy Summer, Situation readers! The July 4th holiday may be over, but there’s still much to celebrate. We have not one, not two, but three must-see performances tonight in Los Angeles. There’s a little bit of something for everyone this evening… here are our top three picks for Friday the 13th:
Garrison Keillor, one of the most recognizable radio personalities in America, brings A Prairie Home Companion to the Hollywood Bowl at 8 pm. Special guests include The Steele Sisters, Sara Watkins, Martin Sheen and Ellie Dehn. Bring over a yummy summer picnic and take in this legendary, one-of-a-kind old-time radio show.
Want to avoid the Hollywood crowds and catch something a little more intimate and relaxed? John C. Reilly returns to Largo on La Cienega Blvd. for a 9pm show with his musical friends. After a solid performance at our very own LA Bluegrass Situation, Reilly will be sure to bring his usual mix of comedy and roots/Americana to one of the Southland’s most intimate venues.
If you’re down to dance to one the finest bands of the ‘jam-grass’ genre, join us at The Greek Theatre at 8 pm for The String Cheese Incident. Legendary guitarist Bill Nershi and his boys finally return to Los Angeles after far too many years away from us. The Situation will also be following them up to Berkeley and eventually Horning’s Hideout in North Plains, Oregon for an epic end to their Summer Tour.
Whereever you’re headed, dear readers, have a wonderful weekend!
