In Their Words: “While on tour in July of 2022, we had a couple of days off between performances in West Virginia and after sleeping in our little old RV in Love’s Truck Stops for the entire month prior, we decided to rent a campsite so we could easily explore the beauty of the state. Unfortunately, we were met with heavy rainfall for the entirety of our stay, and with many roads being blocked off around us, we found ourselves secluded and alone at the little campground. To pass the time, we worked on writing some tunes, and this was when our song ‘West Virginia Rain’ was born. At its core, the lyrics of the song are mainly about how personal tribulations can cause one to have difficulty seeing the beauty in the most beautiful aspects of life. At the time, we thought that the recording of our newest album Foxfield Saint John was complete, but upon finishing ‘West Virginia Rain’ and arranging harmonies, we knew that we had to add it to the album. Upon our arrival back to Nebraska in September after the tour was complete, we went back to Hand Branch Studio in Omaha, Nebraska, and recorded the final track of the project.” — The Wildwoods
