Our next artist in the Woollystar Festival lineup is Flaco el Jandro, captured live at the Northern California festival in June.
Woollystar founder and curator Avery Hellman, better known to many as ISMAY, says, “You may recognize this guy from Chuck Prophet’s Cumbia band, but as you can see with his belt buckle glinting by our old sheep wagon, Flaco el Jandro has his own thing going on. I’ve always wanted to capture an artist in the pastoral landscape of the Eastern Sierra, and showcase a piece of the region’s Basque sheepherding history.
“Earlier on the same day at the Woollystar River Stage, Flaco el Jandro founder Alejandro Gomez and his bandmate Cesar Flores had the crowd going nuts for their confident and staccato bilingual sounds. It turns out that at this year’s Woollystar, the crowd didn’t need lattes to get their blood moving in the morning, just the stimulating sounds of Flaco el Jandro. Important to note is that this very week they will release a new album titled Are We Still Friends? I personally can’t wait to press play on Flaco el Jandro’s latest tunes.”
