Hometown: Peoria, IL
Song: "Heading North"
Album: The Way Down Wanderers
Release Date: July 15

In Their Words: “'Heading North' is a traveler’s tune for those in love and separated by miles. It is an anthem for putting everything behind you, aside from an all-night drive and the person who is waiting for you when you finally reach your destination. I wrote the song when my girlfriend was away at school and I was spending a lot of miles on the road. It helped me get through that period of time in my life and I hope it gives some comfort to others, too.” — Austin Thompson

LISTEN: Jimbo Mathus, ‘Wayward Wind’

Artist: Jimbo Mathus
Hometown: Taylor, MS
Song: “Wayward Wind”
Album): Band of Storms
Release Date: May 6
Label: Big Legal Mess

In Their Words: "Last year, I spent a month in the UK touring with my buddy Ian Siegel. We went into every little town in Scotland and northern England on the south coast. There would be gigs where sheep would be looking in the window of an old stone building at a crossroads in the middle of the Boggs. Haunted places …

Anyway, absorbing the scenery and culture of the rural United Kingdom inspired the writing of 'Wayward Wind.' It's about traveling, leaving, possibly running away. I wanted the accompanying video to express that and, in it, you literally see me running out of the back of the church filmed by a drone. I hope y'all dig it." — Jimbo Mathus

WATCH: Josh Harty, ‘Holding On’

Artist: Josh Harty
Hometown: Madison, WI
Song: "Holding On"
Album: Holding On
Release Date: April 8

In Their Words: "'Holding On' is a song I wrote after an eight-month tour in the U.S. and nearly four months in Europe — about 250 shows in 12 months. Certainly nothing new to the professional road dog players out there, but at the time, it was new to me. To be honest, I was so fried at the end of that tour I don't remember writing the song. I'm pretty sure it was an accurate description of how I felt at the moment, though.

It's amazing how your can lose yourself and find yourself at the same time, on the road. You can get so far out, you forget which end is up. But you'll also find folks who are in the same boat as you. It's like finding another family and you quickly realize you're screwed without them. I made this video in an empty house in Florida, with the help of some friends who are also full-time touring musicians, Kelley McRae & Matt Castelein." — Josh Harty

WATCH: Lee Harvey Osmond, ‘Blue Moon Drive’

Artist: Lee Harvey Osmond
Hometown: Hamilton, ON
Song: “Blue Moon Drive”
Album: Beautiful Scars
Release Date: March 25
Label: Latent Recording and distributed by Megaforce/RED

In Their Words: "We were stoned and staring down a 13-hour drive on the flattest road that runs through the longest fields. The West Coast would belong to us, if we could get there. We were foolish and fearless and we challenged the darkness that hung like the ghosts of horse thieves all around us. It was too late to stop now, and we could smell the salt in the air though our open windows. We were fearless , gold, tattered, and wind-battered … The soul of the country was right there in our headlights and all 3.8 million square miles of it belonged to us … We were feeling alive, roaming with the buffalo, and running with the wildest beasts … We would never go home again … We had found our home out there on the blue moon drive… And every stranger has a home out there." — Lee Harvey Osmond
