In Their Words: “Jon and I both adore bluegrass gospel, so when we began brainstorming our next release together the idea for a gospel project was a true lightbulb moment. We pulled a few songs from Jon and Ashleigh Caudill’s co-write catalog, wrote a new one together, and selected a couple of traditional hymns that I grew up singing. We love to treat music-making as an exercise in community building as well, so we tried to think outside of our usual circles to gather the pickers and singers for this set of songs. We’re so proud of the result and even more proud of the message in this EP!” — Justin Hiltner

“We’ve always firmly believed that bluegrass is for everyone. With this EP, we want to make the point that all of bluegrass is for everyone — bluegrass gospel, too.” — Jon Weisberger

LISTEN: Ashleigh Caudill, “The Road Rolls On”

Artist: Ashleigh Caudill
Hometown: Nashville, Tennessee
Song: “The Road Rolls On”
Album: The Road Rolls On, Songwriter Sessions Volume II
Release Date: February 1, 2019

In Their Words: “Life is pretty uncertain and there aren’t always neat endings to the stories that make up our lives. You never really know what’s coming next and sometimes things don’t turn out the way you planned, but the wheels keep turning and the road rolls on. In that spirit, this track was captured live at Sound Wave Studio by engineer and co-producer Daniel Rice. I played guitar and sang, along with John Mailander on the fiddle and Colin O’Brien on the percussive dancing. I overdubbed the upright and electric bass later on.” — Ashleigh Caudill

Artist: Amanda Fields & Friends
Hometown: Nashville, Tennessee
Song: “When We’re Gone, Long Gone”

In Their Words: “I was going through a difficult time at the end of this past summer and I thought that doing something creative with my friends would lift my spirits. I called Nathan Shuppert (director), and fellow musicians Jenni Lyn Gardner (mandolin, vocals), John Mailander (fiddle), and Ashleigh Caudill (bass, vocals), who all jumped on board with the idea of capturing a performance of the sweet song, ‘When We’re Gone, Long Gone,’ written by the O’Kanes. From my perspective, this video documents the healing power of music and friendship.” – Amanda Fields

LISTEN: Ashleigh Caudill, ‘Polly Andry’

Artist: Ashleigh Caudill
Hometown: Nashville, TN (by way of Montrose, Colorado)
Song: “Polly Andry”
Album: Winter Blues: Songwriter Sessions Volume I
Release Date: June 9, 2017

In Their Words: “I was having a beer with my friend, Jodi Harbin, in Colorado some time ago. Out of nowhere she says to me, ‘Do you know what the opposite of polygamy is?’ I was thinking that, if polygamy is a man with many wives, then the opposite would be a dude with no wives at all — a bachelor. She wasn’t talking about bachelors. She was talking about polyandry. Polyandry is where a woman has multiple husbands. Jodi is great with random facts. I responded, ‘Sounds like a lady’s name in an old-time song.’ And ‘Polly Andry’ was born. We approached the narrative from the whispered gossip of women who were envious of her beauty and bold behavior.” — Ashleigh Caudill
